A Gift From Your Will

A gift from your will is one of the most meaningful ways you can significantly impact the work of Highmark Health or AHN. With the help of an advisor or estate planning attorney, you can include language in your will or trust to designate a gift to family, friends or AHN as part of your estate plan. Sample Language for Wills.

Beneficiary Designation

Designate AHN as a beneficiary to receive assets from retirement plans, IRAs, life insurance, commercial annuities and donor-advised funds. You can accomplish this easily by filling out a beneficiary designation form provided by your plan administrator.

Blended Gifts

There are many combination gift options to make your giving go further than a gift of cash or property. With blended gifts, you can see the impact of your giving today and continue to support our mission in the future. You can add a planned gift to your outright gifts of cash or property to increase the impact of your giving, provide greater tax savings, preserve wealth for you and your family and further our mission. Some ideas include a charitable gift from your will, a beneficiary designation or a charitable gift annuity.

Charitable Gift Annuity

Transfer cash or assets to AHN, and we promise to pay you income for the rest of your life at a rate based on your age at the time of the gift. You can set up payments for you alone or you and one other annuitant. Once all annuitants have been paid, AHN receives the remaining value. The benefit of the gift annuity is that your payments are fixed at the very beginning. Depending upon your gift, you may also benefit from mostly tax-free payments. You will also receive a charitable deduction when you make your gift to AHN. To create a charitable gift annuity, the beneficiary(s) must be at least 55 years old and a resident of Pennsylvania.

Charitable Remainder Annuity Trust

Transfer your cash or appreciated property to fund a charitable remainder annuity trust. The trust sells your property tax-free and provides you with fixed income for life or a term of years.

Charitable Remainder Unitrust

Transfer your cash or appreciated property to fund a charitable remainder unitrust. The trust sells your property tax-free and provides you with income for life or a term of years.

Life Estate Agreement

Deed your residence or property to AHN while retaining the use. You will avoid selling your property and secure current income tax savings.

Life Insurance

Name AHN the primary or contingent beneficiary of your life insurance or transfer a policy.

Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you are 70½ or older, you can give any amount (up to $108,000) this year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as AHN without having to pay income taxes on the money. If you are 73 or older or have a required minimum distribution, this gift may qualify as all or part of your minimum distribution. Contact your IRA plan administrator to send us a gift from your IRA. Your IRA funds will be transferred directly to our organization to help continue our important work. Please note that qualified charitable distributions do not qualify for a charitable deduction.

Securities or Real Estate

Gift long-term appreciated assets. You will receive an income tax deduction and avoid capital gains tax when you give.
