AHN’s Cardiovascular Institute is built on a proud history dating back 60 years and continues to flourish. We continue to attract new physician talent and provide nationally recognized high-quality care, leading the region in the development of innovative medical and surgical options for treating complex diseases of the heart, thoracic and vascular systems

We are a leader in preventative cardiovascular care as well as cutting-edge, minimally invasive programs in the treatment of cardiac, thoracic and vascular diseases. These include cardiac and thoracic robotic procedures, heart transplantation, left ventricular assist devices implantations and numerous transcatheter heart interventions. The Institute has been recognized broadly for its superior programs and outcomes. Most recently, Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) became the first academic medical center in Pennsylvania, and one of only 16 hospitals in the United States, to earn the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for Comprehensive Cardiac Care, which is the gold standard for excellence in cardiac care.
