About the Cancer Institute...Your Community for Compassionate Cancer Care.

The AHN Cancer Institute is changing the way cancer care is delivered. We provide world-class oncology expertise and innovation that is coordinated, collaborative, and community-based, leading to improved quality, access, patient experience, and value. AHN provides patients with state-of-the-art technology and facilities for radiation, surgical, and medical oncology, as well as advanced capabilities in imaging, pathology, genomics, and clinical trials. To provide patients with a full care continuum of prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, survivorship, and palliative support, the AHN Cancer Institute unites all of our services, departments, divisions, and oncology specialists from our 13 disease-site teams. With each patient, our multidisciplinary oncology experts and care professionals develop plans that optimize proven treatments, leading to the best possible outcomes. This approach reduces unnecessary tests or ineffective, possibly toxic, treatments.

Community-based care is more convenient and less costly. It also achieves better results when expertly delivered, evidence-based treatments happen close to a patient’s home. For patients needing sophisticated procedures in a hospital setting, AHN has leading cancer experts, top quality hospitals, and specialty-based regional academic centers at Allegheny General Hospital and West Penn Hospital. We integrate developing cancer care and treatment close to home through close collaboration with our regional and national academic centers and disease site specialists at Allegheny General Hospital, West Penn Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center
